We are Cornish hen crosses (the nasty name for us is “broilers” but we prefer not to think about that). We were living in truly the stinkiest and dirtiest and foul place you could imagine. Animal control got us out of there but Farmer Anne said she had to keep the windows down in the car because of the smell we carried with us. What an awful place.
We are so glad to be here – we are fed very healthy foods; unfortunately, our manufactured genetics make it very easy for us to get fat. So we eat vegetables, some fruits, and just a smidge of grain. We also get exercise every day. We are clean now, although we are getting fat and this problem will be with us our whole lives. Which is very sad, if you ask me. The nice thing is that we have a special admirer. He’s a rooster named Belinda (long story, dont ask). He comes around every day asking us if we’d like to go out to the movies.
It’s so important to have a clean bed to sleep in, clean water to drink and nutritious food, never mind loving attention. How lucky we are.
